At RIS, we believe that inviting guest speakers into a classroom is a very beneficial tool that should be utilized as much as possible. While exploring the properties of sound, students were curious to know about frequency, pitch, rhythm and how they are connected to each other. While learning if classroom teachers incorporate the arts in the lesson, it helps students to learn and discover the concepts through curiosity and enthusiasm. Dasakar sir, one of the pioneer in music industry, visited the classroom to help students understand different properties of sound. With various hands on activities like making sound with basic utensils, jal tarang, various body parts such as hand, finger, mouth, etc, along with musical instruments helped students to know how pitch and frequency are connected to each other. How one can increase pitch, frequency while using musical instruments. Students got an opportunity to connect the learning to music and helped them to understand the structure and working principle of various musical instruments. Students enjoyed the session and actively participated in the class and clarified their queries. It is truly said Learning becomes relevant when we connect with reality. Arts Integration, when done correctly, transforms both the art and the subject area into a whole greater than the sum of its parts.
