    Rasbihari International school celebrated “Reading Week”.

    “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss

     Rasbihari International school celebrated “Reading Week” from 8 to 14th September 2020.  Several activities were organized for the students to enable them to understand the importance of reading. Students from grade 1 to 5 were engaged in activities as read-aloud sessions, sharing of stories and poems written by them, drawing their favourite book character based on the stories shared in their classes. Fun games like ‘Roll-a-dice’, ‘Round Robin Stories’, ‘Story Creation’ were conducted in which students got an opportunity to enhance their vocabulary and reading skills. The highlight of the week was the ‘Costume Party’ in which the students as well as the teachers were dressed as their favourite characters from stories and novels. During the costume party, each student also shared about the character he/she represented and explained their character traits.  ‘Read-a-Thon’ activity was another integral part of this week. An e-book was shared with the students and the fastest-fluent- correct readers were acknowledged and appreciated.  Special reading batches exclusively for 4-5 students were undertaken to reach out to each student and ensure their fluency in reading. Secondary students from grades 6 to 10 also participated in various interesting activities like online reading sessions, sharing of book reviews, sharing stories, and poems written by them. These activities provided a platform to the students to showcase their creative writing skills. It also enhanced their narration and presentation skills and developed a sense of confidence in them.  Also, they shared stories about the person who inspired them the most.  A book – India’s journey to Mars was read in the online class and a debate was organized for the student of grade 8 on the topic- if the government gave enough money to ISRO for the Mars mission.  All these activities encouraged students to take up reading from various genres. Besides, they also came across various other authors and their work which they had not read before. The enthusiasm of all students was evident with their participation in all activities conducted during this period.  

    The Principals and the teachers encouraged students to inculcate the habit of reading. At Rasbihari International School,  reading has been always a priority in the teaching-learning journey of every child.
