The gratitude and appreciation for observing P.N. Panicker Memorial National Reading Day-Reading Month Celebrations was done to inculcate reading habit among the students community. So the library club members of grade 4 to 8 have promoted the National reading day theme on 10th July 2019 in the school assembly. They began with Reading day pledge, where the students took an oath to inculcate more reading habit among themselves proceeding with a short skit. The skit was based on a story “The girl who hated books”, where there were different characters like Meena: a girl who hated reading, her mom, Jennifer: the cat, and few book characters. The story conveys how eventually Meena developed interest in reading. It is said that,”Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader”, and hence the library club of Rasbihari International is continuously taking efforts to promote library through different themes which will always keep the flame of reading lightened inside everyone. Library club members who are always willing to come up with a new promotional theme during the assembly based on different National and International days and Author’s birthday. They promote the theme with an interesting and innovative idea like taking a quiz, performing a skit, giving a demonstration, showing videos and etc. Also they make a chart on the theme decided and displays the book related to theme for the students to read and acquire the knowledge.
Also apart from the library promotion, the students of Rasbihari International promote a book everyday during the assembly. They share what they have read in the book, whether it be a fictional or non-fictional book and recommend others to read it.
