National Science Day is celebrated on 28 February to pay tribute to Dr. C.V Raman for his discovery Raman Effect. At RIS, National Science week was celebrated during the virtual class.
Students shared various examples of how science is all around them, there were lot of questions and interesting connections made with real life.
Quiz, debate on Science is boon or curse and poster making activities were promoted during the entire week. Various provocations like videos, primary resources used at home was used to initiate the inquiry, integration with language and art was evident in the students’ work.
February 27, is celebrated as the Marathi Day on occasion of birthday of V.V. Shirwadkar’, fondly known as Kusumagraj, who was a great writer and poet. On this occasion various activities were organized and this day was celebrated virtually with great enthusiasm at Rasbihari International School.
Grade 9 students paid their homage to Kusumagraj and shared videos giving information about the various aspects of his personality and also recited poems written by him.
The students of the secondary section exhibited their personal collection of Marathi books and texts in a virtual exhibition of books and shared information about the same during their online classes.
All these activities were done under the guidance of Marathi teacher Mrs. Rupali Kulkarni. Students participated enthusiastically and performed all the activities with great joy.
Art and Culture are essential aspects of student’s overall development. They help us in enabling perspective, instilling values and translating experiences across space and time. They also foster the creative inquiry and also assist in refining skills within the students. In order to provide a platform to students to creatively express their ideas/views , the CBSE Board announces the Expression series on Student’s Perspectives.
Guest Lecture on ‘the lifestyle of people of Odisha’ –
Students of Grade III are exploring lifestyle of people in different places and various factors that affect it. Under the mission ‘Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat’, Odisha is the paired state of Maharashtra. Grade 3 explored Odisha by integrating their learning about lifestyle. Our students got an opportunity to meet Ms. Namita Das, Ex-Secondary teacher of Rasbihari International School. She is native of Odisha and has shifted to Koraput, a town in Odisha. Ms. Namita Das shared information about Odisha that included clothing style, staple food and the famous dishes, types of houses, mode of transport, various occupations, etc. She also shared geographic features of Odisha. Students inquired about different festivals, monuments, rivers, and mountains of Odisha.
As Ms. Das very well articulated her presentation, students could enjoy every second of it. They were very curious during the session. She tried to answer all the queries raised during and after the lecture
Miss. Dyaneshwari Deore, student of Rasbihari International school has excelled as the ‘Best Wicket- Keeper’ in Women’s Under -19 Youth Cup. The Youth Cup was oragnized at Pune from 10th to 14th February 2021. The Under -19 youth cup was organized by Shahu Cricket Academy, Pune in which 6 teams had participated. Dyaneshwari played from the Ultimate Cricket Academy, Nashik Team. During the tournament she exhibited excellent skills of sportsmanship and performed the best as a wicketkeeper through out the tournament. With her hard work and potential, her performance was appreciated and she was awarded as the best wicketkeeper for the tournament. Dr. Bhavik Mankodi mentored her for this cricket tournament. The school Principal, Mrs. Bindu Vijaykumar and the school management congratulated Dyaneshwari for her success.
To honour the contributions of Sarojini Naidu, secondary students of Rasbihari International School observed February 13 as National women’s Day of India. This year is 142nd birth anniversary of Sarojini Naidu. So, students offered their tribute by performing various activities. Grade-9 students presented a power point presentation highlighting her contributions towards our country. Grade-8 students recited poems written by her. Grade-7 students delivered speech on Sarojini Naidu. Through various such activities the students shared her involvement in the freedom movement and her contribution in Indian literature. All these activities were conducted during online learning by the students. The activities for the entire event were coordinated by Ms. Pratibha Hiwarle teacher.
Secondary students of Rasbihari International School observe Road safety month from 18th January to 17th February. Various grade wise online activities were conducted by the students. A guest lecture of Mr.Sandeep Nimse , RTO inspector was organized for grade 9 students on Road safety. He shared information on various road safety rules and signs along with few of his experiences while he was on his duty. It was an interactive session and students posed a number of questions to the guest that cleared their doubts about road safety and traffic rules. Students from grade 10 created a video on road safety and shared with their classmates during the online session. Grade 8 students designed comic strip, grade 7 students wrote essay on road safety and grade 6 students made posters and wrote slogans on road safety. It was a month of fun filled and engaging activities besides being informative.
